Advantages Of The Official Version Aviation Trivia Quiz - Offline

Who were the first passengers ever carried aloft by a human-built craft?

A sheep, a duck and a rooster.

In 1783 a hot air balloon rose from a palace garden carrying all three. It flew for about eight minutes while the king and queen watched, came down in woodland some three kilometres away, and all three animals survived. The sheep was reportedly chosen because its physiology resembles ours, and the duck as a control, being a creature that already flew. Human passengers came afterwards.

You have flown many times, and still the aircraft keeps its secrets.

Aviation Trivia Quiz is a three-choice quiz app about the surprising side of flight.

[1] Answer a question, walk away with a story worth telling

Every question comes with a full explanation. You do not just get right or wrong: you find out why, so there is something left over when you close the app.

- What that tiny hole in the cabin window is actually for
- Why flight paths bow outward on a map, and why that is not a detour
- Why airline food tastes stronger than the same dish on the ground
- What is really happening behind that loud noise in the lavatory
- Why retired aircraft are parked in the desert

[2] Whether you are new to this or already deep in it

Three difficulty levels, sorted by how far the trivia goes rather than by how hard the wording is.

- Beginner - everyday things you can answer without knowing aircraft
- Advanced - airport procedure, air traffic control, how operations really run
- Expert - aviation history and the thinking behind aircraft design

The first five questions are built so you can tell what is being asked even if the subject is new to you.

[3] Five questions per round, sized for a short wait

A round is called a Flight: five questions that move through boarding, take-off, cruise, descent and landing. It fits in the few minutes you spend waiting for a train, or before your coffee arrives.

Your result is kept for every Flight, so you can pick up where you left off and keep going until you get a perfect score.

[4] Works on the aircraft, with no signal at all

Every question is stored inside the app. Airplane mode, the underground, a foreign airport - none of it matters.

[5] Available in several languages

English, Japanese, German, French, Spanish and more. You can switch at any time in the app settings.

Who it suits

- Anyone who flies often for work or travel
- Anyone who takes the window seat and looks out
- Anyone who does not mind time spent watching aircraft at an airport
- Anyone who collects trivia worth repeating
- Anyone who wants something to think about in a spare five minutes

About the content

Questions are checked against primary sources where possible: the FAA, ICAO, NASA, manufacturers' own material and museum records. Where the evidence is genuinely divided, the app does not pick a winner - sometimes the question is that there is no single answer.
